At Black Tallow Co., we handcraft every product with care in Ottawa, Ontario. We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. Please read this policy carefully.

Returns & Refunds

We accept returns for non-defective, unused, unopened items within 30 days of delivery (or estimated delivery date if not received).

  • Eligible items: Must be in original, unopened condition with all packaging, seals, and tags intact.
  • Non-returnable items (for hygiene and safety reasons): 
    • Opened or used products (including balms, moisturizers, soaps, lip balms, or any skincare item that has been unsealed).
    • Final sale items (if marked as such at checkout or in promotions).
    • Personalized or custom-made products (if applicable in the future).

If your product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect:

  • Contact us within 7 days of delivery.
  • Provide photos of the issue and your order number.
  • We will offer a replacement (if in stock) or full refund, including original shipping costs.

Refund Process

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method.
  • Processing time: 5–10 business days after we receive and inspect the return (carrier delays may apply).
  • Original shipping fees are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error (damaged/defective/wrong item).
  • Return shipping: Customer is responsible for return postage unless the return is due to our error. We recommend using a trackable service.

How to Initiate a Return

  1. Email us at returns@blacktallowco.com with your order number and reason for return.
  2. We will provide a return address and any instructions.
  3. Ship the item(s) back securely packaged.
  4. Once received and inspected, we will process your refund or replacement.

Exceptions & Notes

  • We do not offer exchanges at this time (refunds only).
  • Sale/promotional items may be final sale—check product pages.
  • We are not responsible for lost return shipments—use tracked shipping.
  • All returns are subject to inspection. Items not meeting our condition requirements may be returned to you at your expense or refused.
